That city I’ve grown to know
For all of my life.
Headed to NY
That city that “never sleeps”
Or so they say.
Excited I am
On this new adventure
But reminded of that
which I leave today.

My hometown
To my schools
Downtown
From Orange County
To San Fernando Valley
From Skid Row to Greek Row
Boyle Heights to Beverly Hills
A town of two teams for every season
Always an option to join the bandwagon
From Hedge Funds of Century City
Working long before dawn comes
To Clubs and Mansions of Hollywood Hills
Where partying stops only when it does
From the iconic shipping yards of San Pedro
And oil pumps that defined the past Angelenos
To new startup communities of Silicon Beach
Pumping money and hope into LA’s future heroes
From skyscrapers of downtown
To those of along Wilshire
From cursing at cross town rivals
To cursing at traffic to get across town
From the rural to the urban
From Teslas to suburbans
From vegan yogis and overworked yuppies
To hungry artists and socialite foodies
From sunny summers to sunny winters
This is my city.
This is LA.
I give it this promise:
I shall return one day.
