Sight is one of our most dominant senses.
For example, in a taste testing of wines, highly touted sommeliers were given white wines with red food dye in them. Instead of describing the wines with words representing white wines, they used adjectives associated with and representing red wines. They relied on their sense of sight and concluded the wines were red, despite the inputs from their sense of smell and taste which indicated white wine. Sight won.
As a little wise elf once said in one of my favorite childhood holiday movies:
Seeing isn’t believing, believing is seeing. -Little Elf Judy The Santa Clause
Well, while I can’t argue the wisdom of a really old elf…seeing creates a fundamental framework with which to analyze reality. And this week’s video upgraded my framework and perception of how sight and light works. To this day, I am in awe about it:
So what does this make you think about? Has this changed your perception of light? What cool ideas come to mind to make use of this technology?
