022 – Best Triggers for Last: Humans

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking, writing, and setting the right environment, the right triggers to keep on the path of awesomeness.

But what happens when (and it will always occur at some point), when life just happens and you can’t seem to catch up, you don’t feel the triggers working, or even worse, your brain through exhaustion or depression decides to glaze over even the sight/sound/presence of these triggers and forgets them?

Isn’t the whole point about keeping you on track?

Yes.

So now what?

Well there’s only so much inanimate/non-human things can do.

Which is why it is crucial to have a human, or group of humans (aka group) as one of the triggers well focused on you maintaining a high state of awesome.

They will know and let you know their displeasure when you show up 15 minutes late to a meeting (or cancel).

They can sense when you’re just going through the motions and not actually being present and alert.

They will call you out when they see something wrong.

In so doing, they can help right the ship.

That’s why I have and strongly encourage you to set up a Mastermind Group — a group of 3 like-minded individuals meeting every week to focus on self-improvement across all areas of life (spiritual, personal, professional, relational, etc.).

Napoleon Hill made it popular in his book Think and Grow Rich.

I’ve been helping in small ways with a non-profit initiative to spread these Masterminds to young men to encourage optimal maturity and growth, called Ironmen, check them out here.

The beauty of Masterminds/Ironmen is that you live vicariously through and can help guide the actions of two other top-notch individuals as you each push the others to new heights of achievement.

It is with these people that if all your other triggers fail, they can and will chime in, encourage, steer, and guide you back on your path to maximal awesome-nity.

And the beautiful part is, once you’re back on track, the other triggers then come back into focus making that rise to an optimal you even more swift.
