After back-to-back finals unraveling the beauty of multi-variable regressions, efficient capital market portfolios, YTM, STDEVS, CAPM, VAR, Sharpe Ratio, RSquared, P-Values, etc. etc. etc……it was time to do what we humans were designed in part to do: move.
I don’t like the act of running, but I love the feeling of running.
First of all, shout out to Spotify’s Running Feature….it’s amazing, try it out.
Secondly, seasons in NYC have their pro’s and con’s. Give it a month or so, and the con’s will be piled up next to the mounds of black snow that line the streets and Severe Weather Warnings that flash on the phone.
But for now, the crisp cold air and changing leaves color the perfect environment to go running. And that, I’ll take over the current 90+ degree heat of LA. Don’t stop now, add on top of that a slow-setting sun over the coast-line where Manhattan and the Hudson meet.
How could you not want to run just a little bit extra, spend just a little more time appreciating the beauty, appreciating the refreshing, slightly salted air, crisp breeze, beautifully paved shoreline, and look out at the shining sun (indirectly of course) and the beautiful horizon (even Jersey looks good in this lighting)??
Plus the alternative is to get back to your room to study for the next final…sometimes the alternative encourages healthy habits and extended runs…
In these moments of brisk motion, the feeling towards the moment, towards running, towards NYC is perfectly captured by this:
Thank you,
Thank you for these legs to run.
For these eyes to see where I run to.
For this air to breathe for the mind to be.
For the mind would not have seen
If the legs weren’t inspired
By you.
And now back to studying.
